If I miss a checkin please do not be terribly concerned, and DO NOT CALL THE COAST GUARD.

Putting these updates on the web site is a bit of a complicated process. There are three pieces of high tech gear on the boat that are involved, the laptop computer, the HF Marine Radio, and the modem that sits between the two. None of these pieces would survive a good dose of salt water, so hope for no leaks in the nav station. Of course there is software running on all of these pieces that could get cranky

On the shoreside end of things there are two radio based email services, one for the text one for the map. There is also my web hosting company, and another that receives the text emails and makes them ready for web presentation.

Any of these pieces can break. There is also the factor that there are only a couple hours a day when the radio reception is good enough to get an update through. Being solo now means I have to be awake at those times to get the update sent. I may just be too tired to do the half hours work required to get this updated.

I appreciate your concern, and make every effort to make the updates daily when underway.
